Brief
Create a physical music product that combines digital and analog interaction. Include voice and natural language as a key part of the user experience.
Solution
A music player that lets children create their own songs using voice and interaction with an AI companion. The AI asks three simple questions, then generates music, a visual theme, and an animated character that dances to the beat. Children can save favorite tracks, revisit recent creations, and adjust volume and tempo using playful knobs on the device.

Process
I did user tests with both children and adults to see how well they understood BeatBot’s functions and instructions. Their feedback helped me iterate quickly and improve the clarity, playfulness, and overall user experience. Through testing, I also learned the importance of large touch targets, simple navigation, and clear, intuitive icons — especially since the main users can’t read yet. These insights were crucial in making BeatBot accessible and engaging for young children.
Reflection
This was my first time working with UI design for younger kids as the target group. I learned a lot about how important it is to test your product early and often. It was also the first project where I used variables in Figma and built on an existing design system as the foundation for my design.
